So this is how it is to fall in love
It is to be at sea.
Ebbing words rise and fall,
crash and pay homage to shores,
but they know nothing of undercurrents.
They never reach down deep enough.
The tide roars, the foam sprays
But where the sun is speechless,
the water is warm at my feet and ankles,
Softly leading me into the deep of darker hues
where a calm blue mirrors the stars.
The hand that leads to safety is
a boy's quiet gaze (charmed
as if he's looking at sunshine in a box),
his shy smile that sings
a way a love letter never could.
I tell you a story:
While the stars began their faint twinkling,
a man drawled about floating.
The girl who heard and said
"Love is a sea plunging into another sea",
never thought she becomes one with the ocean.
Would it help if there was a context for our work? Or perhaps it should be able to stand on its own? Or maybe I could add it in the comments section after everyone's read it. Ge, where are yoo? ü
In any case, this was written back in February. Showed it to Oli a couple of days ago and he said in surprise,
"But that was before we became us!"
I smiled and said, "Yup!"
He hugged me.
I don't know what the future will hold, it might not be as bright or as lovely as I'd (desperately) hope it to be. I'm not daft enough to assume we'd end up for sure. I know this is the truth of this moment-- an anchor, come what may in the future. At some point, this is what my heart enunciates so vividly: that I really am in love with a wonderful boy. ü

Before you posted this here abbiibibikinni I read it on your blog and I honestly thought you were quoting some long-dead 19th century poet. :) This is wonderful.
