A Prayer for the Purest Form

A Prayer for the Purest Form
by Marjorie Cocjin

Created: September 24, 2007

I pray for the purest forms of the world.
The purest of wisdom.
The kind that flows from the hearts of
our past; history my teacher, words that last--
from great men of all time, written in stone
but most of all, the wisdom that comes
from listening to You.

I pray for the purest forms of the world.
The purest of beauty.
To be more than just the form I've been graced with.
the beauty of spirit that accepts the world,
and forgives her fellows.
The beauty that thinks with love in mind
for every person she meets,
A beauty that trails the heavens on earth
Bringing light to a dark sky--
The purest of beauty which is light.
To be the light of the world, I pray.

I pray for the purest forms of the world.
The purest of joy.
Not for me, but for the forgotten and grieving.
For the least in comfort and most with greed.
Let the purest of joy rekindle dark hearts.
For I wish them to be happy as well.
I with no power for now, believe I can do my part,
by praying for those who do have the material capacity
to save the world,
I pray for the purest joy, the kind that comes
from bringing us all together, to help
and serve, and envelop in compassion, the people
most removed from You.

I pray for the purest forms of the world.
But most importantly, I pray for the purest of love.
What has been done before, let it be done again.
What You've shown me before, let me take into my life
to cherish, behold and aspire to.
Let it be hard to attain for me to understand the depth
of Your love for the world.
Let it be on paths lost, unknown and forgotten
that I may venture in on my own, alone and willing
to be myself for You, to live for You and to discover
bit by bit, my imperfection as a person,
and the potential to be perfect in love.

"To give without counting the cost,
To fight without heeding the wounds."

I pray for the purest forms of the world.
They inspire me, like the littlest star of the sky.
Twinkling alone, small and radiant.
A jewel begetting poems, odes and awe...
Always a beauty in the dark sky.
